DESIGN CONTEXT

The Makio Hasuike wall organizer designed for Gedy in the 1970s transforms an everyday storage object into a remarkably graphic piece of Italian design. Its long vertical body is molded in vivid glossy red plastic, combining a circular mirror, two projecting storage trays and two lower hooks within a single streamlined composition.

Hasuike’s design is particularly clever in the way it integrates different functions without disturbing the clarity of the form. Toiletries, glasses, small personal objects or accessories can be stored in the trays, while the lower hooks provide additional hanging space. The circular mirror becomes both a practical element and the visual focus of the piece.

An original upper accessory allows the organizer to be suspended over a door without permanent installation; alternatively, it can be mounted directly on the wall. This flexibility makes the piece equally suited to a bathroom, dressing area, bedroom or entrance.

The vivid red version gives the rational structure an especially strong Space Age presence. This example is preserved in very good vintage condition, with scattered superficial marks consistent with age and use.
