DESIGN CONTEXT

These vintage Italian wall hooks, designed by C. Bartoli for Con & Con in the 1970s, reflect an inventive period of Italian industrial design in which molded plastic became both structure and visual language.

Each hook combines a large rounded upper element with a compact architectural support and a smaller lower hook. The composition transforms a simple functional object into a strongly graphic wall presence. Displayed as a pair, the two pieces create a particularly effective rhythm through repetition, glossy surfaces and the contrast between circular and rectilinear forms.

Produced in black molded plastic, the hooks have a restrained character that distinguishes them from the more exuberant colors often associated with 1970s plastic design.
