This distinctive 80s lamp by Piuluce Vicenza explores the expressive potential of a remarkably simple form. A large hemispherical metal shade defines the design, its surface punctuated by a regular pattern of circular perforations that becomes especially effective when the lamp is illuminated.
The contrasting black and white finish reinforces its graphic character. Light passes through the numerous openings in the shade, transforming a restrained geometric object into a more dynamic presence and creating a decorative interplay between solid surface, pattern and illumination.
With its generous 45.5 cm diameter, the lamp has enough scale to define a dining area or interior without relying on ornamental complexity. Its combination of pure geometry, monochromatic contrast and playful treatment of light reflects the more experimental side of Italian lighting during the 1980s.
Produced by Piuluce in Vicenza, the lamp survives in excellent vintage condition and remains perfectly functional. Scuffs, minor losses to the white paint and a small dent visible only on close inspection document its age without compromising its overall appearance.
