This Kartell drawer unit designed by Simon Fussell reflects the experimental direction explored by Italian plastic furniture during the 1970s, when modular domestic systems became increasingly graphic, mobile and visually architectural.
Produced by Kartell in glossy ABS plastic, the piece combines practical storage with a strong sculptural identity. The alternating black and green surfaces create a precise vertical rhythm that transforms a compact drawer unit into a highly expressive interior object. Like many Italian modular systems from the same period, the design was conceived to remain flexible and adaptable within changing domestic spaces.
The integrated wheels reinforce the lightweight and mobile character typical of Italian plastic furniture from the decade, while the taller five drawer configuration gives the piece a stronger architectural presence compared to lower versions from the same series.
These Kartell drawer unit can also be naturally paired with the complementary ivory and black four drawer version currently featured in the collection, both sharing the same modular construction and graphic alternating structure while offering two distinct chromatic identities within the Simon Fussell Kartell series.
