“An object that came from the Moon” – this was the definition of the TV Linea 1.
This tv set is a creation of the world famous Rodolfo Bonetto (1929-1991) for Autovox. The legend tells that Bonetto was inspired by the NASA monitors seen on the media during the moon landing in 1969.
We do not know if the story is true, but in any case this object is a milestone of mid century design. This TV set has a 13-inches screen perfectly integrated with an ingenious chassis that makes a 90 degree rotation. Linea 1 is a great example of innovation with its clean, futuristic shapes. It is also a perfect blend of form and function.
This vintage piece is in very good aesthetic conditions. It has signs of time consistent with age and use. Moreover, all the switches and antenna are present.
Linea 1 is proposed as a design object. In fact its technology does not allow to function as a normal TV set. However, all the switches, the antenna and the original cable are present. The tv set switches on and the cathodic tube lightens up. Also the loudspeaker works, emitting a typical white noise.
