This vintage perpetual calendar from the 1970s turns a simple everyday function into a compact piece of graphic design. Its vivid red plastic case is contrasted by a black display panel and pale rotating indicators, creating a strong visual composition typical of the decade.
Four controls positioned along the top allow the calendar to be adjusted manually, while separate windows display the day, numerical date and month. The French-language indicators add another layer of character to an object conceived for repeated everyday use rather than a fixed moment in time.
Its appeal lies in this combination of utility and visual rhythm. Bright plastic, compact proportions and mechanical interaction reflect the period’s fascination with colourful domestic accessories that could make desks and shelves feel more expressive.
Fully functional and exceptionally well preserved, the calendar retains the direct, playful quality associated with 1970s Pop Design. A yellow version of the same concept can also be explored within our collection, showing how colour could completely alter the personality of an otherwise identical everyday object.
