The Silvi Plastic Vanity by Fanini Fain is one of the most playful and unconventional expressions of Italian Space Age furniture from the 1970s.
Designed as a compact all-in-one vanity station, the piece combines a swivel mirror, hidden internal compartments and an integrated rolling seat within a sculptural cylindrical structure. Its soft geometry and glossy surfaces transform a functional dressing table into a bold visual object.
This particular version stands out for its vivid orange vanity structure, contrasted by the deep dark brown rolling seat and warm mustard upholstery. The strong colour blocking feels deeply rooted in the radical optimism of 1970s Italian interiors, where plastic furniture became expressive, mobile and unapologetically graphic.
The mirror rises from the top section, revealing internal storage compartments conceived for cosmetics and everyday objects. Both the vanity and the seat move on casters, reinforcing the playful modular spirit of the design.
Produced during the golden era of experimental Italian plastic furniture, the Silvi plastic vanity embodies the futuristic domestic vision that defined the decade — a vision where furniture was no longer static, but dynamic, adaptable and sculptural.
The original Kastilia label is still present on the piece, further documenting its period production and commercial distribution.
Today, surviving examples remain exceptionally rare, particularly in this vibrant colourway. The piece works equally well as a functional vanity, collector’s object or sculptural accent in contemporary interiors.
