These Rosenthal compartment plates belong to the German manufacturer’s Studio-Linie, internationally known as Studio-Line, established in 1961 as a platform for contemporary design and collaborations with leading designers and architects.
The set consists of four softly squared porcelain plates, each divided into one generous compartment and three smaller geometric sections. Their asymmetric arrangement creates a particularly graphic composition, which changes according to the orientation of each plate and gives the complete set a dynamic appearance when arranged together.
The warm beige glaze softens the geometry, while a fine blue line follows the contours of the design, providing a restrained graphic contrast. The hand-painted character of the decoration is confirmed by the “Handgemalt” inscription on the underside, alongside the original Rosenthal Studio-Linie factory mark.
Both functional and visually distinctive, the design transforms an everyday piece of tableware through proportion, geometry and subtle detailing. All four plates remain in excellent vintage condition, with no chips.
