The Rogier Oxar wall lamp is a striking example of French Space Age lighting from the 1970s. Designed by Philippe Rogier for Oxar, this compact sculptural fixture embodies the experimental relationship between structure and light that defined the period.
Its cylindrical metal base supports a chromed spiral diffuser finished with a reflective central cap. When illuminated, the spiral construction produces a dramatic radial light pattern that expands across the wall, transforming the surrounding surface into part of the composition. The lamp is lucid and clean, with visible but discreet signs of age, including light oxidation inside the spiral and minor marks on the metal support consistent with time.
Measuring 15 x 15 cm, the Rogier Oxar wall lamp can also be installed on the ceiling when paired with a larger bulb, enhancing its sculptural presence. Fully functional and fitted with an E27 socket, it represents the bold aesthetic research typical of 1970s French design.
This piece sits naturally alongside other experimental lighting forms in our Space Age Icons collection, where structure and light become inseparable design elements.
