The DIME table container designed by Marcello Siard for Collezioni Longato in the 1970s is a refined example of Italian plastic furniture from the Space Age era. Produced in durable Novodur, the piece reflects the experimental approach to industrial materials that characterized much Italian design during the decade.
The DIME table container is conceived as a compact cubic volume with softly rounded edges and four small chrome wheels that allow it to move easily within a domestic space. The removable lid reveals a hollow interior compartment, enabling the object to function simultaneously as a storage container and as a small side table.
In this dark chocolate brown version, the sculptural geometry of the cube becomes particularly evident. The deep tone contrasts subtly with the chrome wheels, emphasizing the minimalist character typical of Italian plastic furniture of the 1970s.
The underside bears the embossed marking “DIME – Collezioni Longato – Made in Italy – modello depositato”, confirming the authenticity of the production.
