Authentic Vintage Rolodex Rotary Desk File, 1970s

DESIGN CONTEXT

An enduring icon of pre-digital workplace culture, this original vintage Rolodex Model 5024X represents the height of functional 20th-century American office design. Produced in Secaucus, New Jersey, this rotary card holder combines mechanical reliability with an unmistakable industrial aesthetic.

Built around a curved chrome-plated tubular frame with protective black rubber feet, the unit features the signature double-knob rotating mechanism. The embossed black plastic side knobs allow smooth rotation, giving quick access to hundreds of blank index cards organized by classic green alphabetical dividers.

This particular piece remains unused, with its original cards clean and unwritten. It stands as a tactile reminder of an era when professional contacts were managed by hand, offering a satisfying analog interaction that digital screens cannot replicate.

Whether placed on a contemporary home office desk, used creatively as a recipe holder, or displayed as a sculptural accent on a bookshelf, this authentic Rolodex Model 5024X brings charm, history, and mid-century character to any interior setting.

The piece is preserved in very good vintage condition. The paper cards exhibit minor natural age spots from storage, and metal parts show light scattered surface patina consistent with age. Both side knobs and the rotating axle function smoothly.
