The stool is exceptionally well preserved with firm padding and original upholstery showing only minor traces of glue along the fabric edges, together with light surface scratches on the plastic frame. The vanity remains in excellent overall condition with scattered superficial scratches, minor marks and a few more evident stains inside the storage compartment beneath the mirror, invisible when closed. The mirror shows age-related wear along the perimeter together with slight glue residue where the original plastic trim was previously removed. The set has been carefully cleaned and presents beautifully with wear consistent with age and respectful use.

DESIGN CONTEXT

Designed by Fanini Fain for Kastilia, the Silvi plastic vanity is one of the most distinctive Italian dressing tables of the 1970s. It perfectly reflects the optimistic vision of the Space Age design movement.

Its cylindrical body conceals a practical storage compartment beneath a circular mirrored top. The matching stool slides neatly inside the vanity, creating a compact and elegant composition when not in use.

Molded plastic, soft curves and integrated functions define the project. Rather than imitating traditional furniture, the Silvi plastic  vanity embraces industrial materials and futuristic forms. The result is a sculptural piece that remains highly practical for everyday use.
