French Space Age wall lamp from the 1970s featuring a double light composition with chromed spiral wire diffusers. A sculptural wall fixture producing a dramatic radial light effect, attributed to Philippe Rogier and produced by Oxar.
This striking space age wall lamp was produced in France during the 1970s by Oxar and is attributed to designer Philippe Rogier. Characterized by a bold sculptural presence, the lamp reflects the experimental spirit of French Space Age lighting, where form, structure, and light interaction played a central role.
The wall lamp features a rectangular satin-finished metal base supporting two aligned light sources. Each light is completed by a spiral diffuser made of chromed metal wire, finished with a reflective central cap. This distinctive construction transforms the light into a visual element, creating a pronounced radial illumination pattern that spreads across the wall in a highly decorative manner.
The spiral wire diffusers act both as light modulators and sculptural components, producing depth, rhythm, and movement when illuminated. The result is a dynamic interplay between light and shadow, typical of Space Age lighting design of the period.
This space age wall lamp is fitted with E27 sockets and retains its original visible wiring on the back, suitable for wall mounting. It is offered in good vintage condition, with normal signs of age on the metal structure and light oxidation and patina on the wire diffusers, consistent with time and use. Fully functional and visually impactful, this piece is ideal for collectors of Space Age and 1970s French design.
