This rare space age mirror was produced in France during the 1970s and represents a refined example of European Space Age design. Identified as model 710 and marked Modèle Déposé, this wall mirror stands out for its sculptural presence and its sophisticated use of translucent materials.
The circular mirror is framed by a thermoformed amber smoked plastic structure with a continuous, self-supporting construction and no metal frame. The frame features a variable section, thicker at the top and progressively thinner toward the bottom. This deliberate design choice enhances the perception of depth, visually lightens the object, and creates a dynamic, sculptural effect typical of French Space Age production.
The translucent plastic filters and refracts light, generating a warm halo around the mirror and reinforcing its architectural presence within the space. The central mirrored glass is seamlessly integrated into the frame, emphasizing the purity of the form and the material-driven approach of the design.
The mirror is in very good vintage condition. The plastic frame shows normal signs of age, including light surface scratches, and remains fully intact. Oxidation and partial deterioration of the mirror’s silvering are present along the inner edge, consistent with age and original materials.
